It was just last week that I heard about the Red Pump Project, but as soon as I did, I HAD to jump on board! Their goal was to have 500 bloggers in on the action. The Red Pump Project now has up to 1200 bloggers that have signed up to join this awesome cause for “Rocking the red pump” as a symbol of empowerment to represent women affected directly or indirectly with HIV/AIDS! Did you know that every 9.5 minutes, someone in the U.S is invected with HIV and every 35 minutes, a woman tests positive for HIV in the United States? Every year on March 10th, the U.S. recognizes this day as National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD)!
If you haven’t already, be sure to SIGN UP NOW! Are you on Facebook or Twitter? If you are rocking your RED pumps today, be sure to upload a picture to The Red Pump Project Facebook page and tweet about it on Twitter with the hashtag #RocktheRedPump and/or #NWGHAAD. You can also email me a picture at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll post it on my blog. Let’s help spread the message about this campaign and encourage family/friends to get tested!!!
P.S. If you wanted to participate but couldn’t because you didn’t have any red pumps, don’t worry, I’m representing for all of YOU!!! 🙂
