Cooking with Charee: Cheesy Mac + Cheese

My toddler absolutely loves Mommy’s “Cheesy Mac & Cheese”. This is one of his favorite dishes and it is so easy to make. I want to start sharing more with you babes. I am so much more than just Fashion! I want to share some of my easy recipe dishes with you also. If you’re a busy mommy, like myself, you will enjoy these dishes that the kids will love. What kid doesn’t like Cheesy Mac & Cheese for lunch or dinner? What Adult doesn’t like it either? This dish is great by itself or as a side.

First, you will need macaroni, shredded cheese, velveeta cheese, sour cream, butter, milk and a baking dish. You can add salt & pepper to taste or add whatever seasonings that you prefer. Boil the macaroni and drain, once cooked.

Layer the baking dish. Add cheese first, then macaroni, cheese again, and so on until the baking dish is filled to the top (sort of think about how you layer lasagna before putting it in the oven). Once all layers are completed…

Add the milk, velveeta cheese and butter to a microwave safe dish (I just use my measuring cup) and microwave until melted. I usually put my microwave on 1 minute and watch it closely. If you prefer, you can also melt on the stove in a pot. Whichever you prefer.

Once melted, pour this mixture over the layered macaroni & shredded cheese in the baking dish. It’s starting to look YUMMY now!!!

Add the sour cream and stir. This is also where I will add salt and pepper. Once the melted mixture and sour cream are completely mixed in, add more shredded cheese on top and place in the oven on 350 degrees for about 20-30 minutes. You just want everything to bake together and melt the cheese.

Voila! The finished product is oh so cheesy and creamy. You can choose to brown the top crispier, but my son doesn’t like the crisp (and I don’t either). HEHEHE

By the looks of it, I think Mason likes it! This is by far one of his faves by Mommy. Don’t you just love that face??!?!

RECIPE DETAILS

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups milk

1/2 block of Velveeta Cheese

1lb bag of Shredded Cheese

2 tbsp Butter

1 lb Macaroni

2 tbsp Sour Cream

Baking Dish

Salt, Pepper to taste

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees

Bring macaroni to boil. Once cooked, drain. Layer the baking dish with shredded cheese, macaroni, and repeat until baking dish is filled to top.

Add remaining ingredients, milk, velveeta cheese (cut into cubes for easier melting), and butter and melt completely. Once completely melted, pour over layered macaroni and shredded cheese. Add sour cream, salt & pepper and stir. Once all ingredients are evenly distributed, add a layer of shredded cheese and place in oven for 20-30 min.
